Abstract

Jedan od nedostataka s kojim se drvo i drvni materijali suočavaju je podložnost gorenju. Uvriježeno je mišljenje da u uvjetima požara drvo brže otkazuje u usporedbi s drugim građevnim materijalima. Istina je međutim da drvo i materijali od drva gore postepeno uslijed čega dolazi do smanjenja poprečnog presjeka pa je potrebno izvjesno vrijeme dok (primjerice lamelirani nosači) ne pokleknu pred vatrenom stihijom. Može li se kontrolirati brzina širenja vatre korištenjem zaštitnih sredstava kako bi se drvu povećala otpornost na djelovanje požara te tako smanjila razina nastale štete ali i zaštitio ljudski život? Je li drvo uistinu nekonkurentno za primjenu u uvjetima mogućeg požara? Ovaj diplomski rad donosi pregled činjenica o ponašanju drva u uvjetima požara: mehanizam sagorjevanja drva, kemijske i fizičke procese, utjecaj svojstava drva, mogućnost zaštite drva i povećanja požarne otpornosti, usporedba s drugim građevnim materijalima u svrhu stjecanja dodatnih znanja o ovoj temi i razbijanju predrasuda o drvu kao materijalu koji samo gori.

Abstract (english)

One of the shortcomings with which wood and wood materials are faced is the susceptibility to burning. It is commonly believed that wood fires faster in fire conditions than other building materials. However, it is true, that the wood and the wood material upwards gradually causes a cross-sectional reduction, so it takes some time (for example, the laminated carriers) to cope with the flame. Can fire speed be controlled by using protective agents to increase fire resistance to wood, thus reducing the level of damage and protecting human life? Is the wood really uncompetitive for use under the conditions of a possible fire? This graduate thesis provides an overview of the behavior of wood in fire conditions: wood combustion mechanism, chemical and physical processes, impact of wood properties, wood protection and fire resistance increase, comparison with other building materials for the purpose of acquiring additional knowledge on this subject and breaking prejudice about wood as a material that just burns.
