Abstract

Požari na otvorenim prostorima, posebno šumski, predstavljaju ozbiljne ekološke, ekonomske i socijalne izazove, uništavajući milijune hektara godišnje, posebno ljeti. Posljedice uključuju gubitak biološke raznolikosti, povećanje emisije stakleničkih plinova i prijetnje ljudskom zdravlju. Suha i neuređena područja povećavaju rizik od požara, osobito u uvjetima visokih temperature i suše. Prevencija, koja obuhvaća upravljanje šumama, ključna je za smanjenje rizika, a vatrogasna zajednica ima važnu ulogu u gašenju požara i osvješćivanju zajednice. Uz preventivne mjere i razvoj modela za procjenu opasnosti od nastanka požara otvorenog prostora, te razvoj modela za praćenje širenja požara, postaju sve važniji aspekt upravljanja rizicima. Modeli kao što su Kanadski sustav ocjenjivanja opasnosti od šumskih požara, BEHAVE, BEHAVE+, FARSITE, FLAMMAP i ROTHERMEL, koriste različite ulazne varijable, poput meteoroloških uvjeta, stanja vegetacije i topografske elemente, u svrhu što preciznijeg prepoznavanja područja u kojima su prisutni visoki rizici za nastanak požara, te praćenje širenja požara. Ta tehnologija, zajedno s učinkovitim sustavima upravljanja informacijama, može doprinijeti brzom i učinkovitom odgovoru na izbijanje požara.

Abstract (english)

Fires in open areas, especially forest fires, pose serious ecological, economic and social challenges, destroying millions of hectares annually, especially in summer. Consequences include loss of biodiversity, increased greenhouse gas emissions and threats to human health. Dry and unkempt areas increase the risk of fire, especially in conditions of high temperatures and drought. Prevention, which includes forest management, is key to reducing risk, and the firefighting community has an important role in fire suppression and community awareness. In addition to preventive measures and the development of models for assessing the risk of open space fires, and the development of models for monitoring the spread of fires, they are becoming an increasingly important aspect of risk management. Models such as the Canadian Wildfire Hazard Assessment System, BEHAVE, BEHAVE+, FARSITE, FLAMMAP, and ROTHERMEL use various input variables, such as meteorological conditions, vegetation conditions, and topographic features, in order to more accurately identify areas with high wildfire risks the occurrence of fire, and monitoring the spread of fire. This technology, together with effective information management systems, can contribute to a quick and effective response to a fire outbreak.
