Abstract
Rod Pinus L. ima oko 94 ili više vrsta. Sve su autohtone na sjevernoj polutci. Samo jedna vrsta prelazi Ekvator na Sumatri. Rod se dijeli na dva podreda: Haploxylon i Diploxylon. U Hrvatskoj su autohtone pet vrsta: obični bor, crni bor, alepski bor, planinski bor i pinija. Sve autohtone vrste spadaju u podred Diploxylon..
